Johannes Deutsch

Bio

Johannes is a documentary, architectural, travel and event photographer from Austria. He studied Art History at University of Graz in Austria and University of Kiel in Germany, as well as Photography and Interactive Media at Blake College in London.

Johannes published his photographs on news and company websites, in magazines, books and brochures. He photographed many events and carried out private commissions. For more than four years he pursued a long-term project documenting children with eating disorders at the children's psychosomatic ward of the university hospital in Graz. From November 2018 to December 2019 he worked for the photo archive of Magnum photographer Erich Lessing. Currently he is freelancing again.

Beneath his photography he is a well accomplished author and researcher. His Master thesis in the History of Art explored the question how Magnum photographers and a range of documentary photographers are working with colour. Presently he is pursuing a long-term project about the history of his native country Austria, both as an art historian and a photographer.
